The Lambda Probe Trainer provides a demonstration of the function and operation of the Lambda probe device which is used in electronic fuel injection systems to monitor fuel mixtures in exhaust gases. The input obtained from the probe is used by the electronic control unit as feedback for monitoring and correcting the fuel injection process during engine operation. This is an important element in the control of the emission control system.
In this demonstration device a real Lambda device is used and mounted in a simulated exhaust pipe. A butane burner is used to simulate the exhaust gases that heats the exhaust pipe. The electrical meter measures the resulting output voltage. Several variables may be adjusted during operation. The results can be seen such as the effect of temperature and mixture upon voltage output. The unit comes complete with student exercises text.
