List of Experiments

This Section features a special engine testing program that is unique to Labtech. It consists of our Modular Dynamometer System (MDS) which have been carefully designed so as to provide a truly modular and flexible engine testing system. That is ideal for education.

The MDS system can quickly and easily test all of our Labtech Engine Test Beds. It’s design incorporates a quick connection and coupling system that allow engines to be changed in just minutes rather than hours. The Basic MDS system allows normal power and torque testing of engines which is useful to any shop or school doing engine repair programs.

The MDS System can also be upgraded by adding a series of optional attachments to perform tests for thermodynamics programs and advances engine performance testing. Accessories and attachments can be added for measuring temperature, water flow, fuel consumption and air consumption. A very comprehensive manual is provided which covers theory mathematical formulas and student job sheets for guiding experimentation. For small engine dynamometers see our section “PS” in this catalog.

This will enable the teachers to measure the condition of the engine prior to the student doing his work and end result after he has made the repairs. Also it is useful in teaching the concepts about how tune-up procedures can affect the overall performance of the engines.

How tuning effect performance can be a very difficult concept for students to grasp without the aid of a dynamometer. In addition, The MDS system is one the only few systems available that can also test transmissions and instruct in the concepts of torque multiplication.
